I am interested in starting part-time travel agency but am afraid if I would do well since internet has revolutionized so many aspects of not only this but many businesses. So i would like current travel agents who are already in business if this is may serve a good part-time business for some extra income! So many people are using computers now-a-days and air liners would rather prefer people book their tickets on-line (e-tickets!) so they don’t have to pay commission to travel agents – is that a valid thinking on my part? How else would travel agents make money if most people either can find the best deal thru the use of computers or worse directly book their tickets with air lines thru internet??? Then where is the money to be made??? Plus, is it lot of investment to be a travel agent? Thanks.

Over 200,000 Brick and morter travel agency’s have gone out of business do to the internet but for us home based agents it has made it better than ever!

Been is this business over 20 years and there’s really no money to be made unless you do luxury leisure travel. You’ll need to hook up with an agency. There’s no more commissions just fee based services. I wouldn’t do this but hey you never know! Good luck.
